Designed to fit where they are most needed directly to the outlet of the air pump. Overpressure probabaly wrecks more air pumps than any other cause. As a result of Overpressure a pump will generally overheat, in the case of a diaphragm pump this will quickly lead to failure of the diaphragms. In the case of Piston pump premature wear could occur.
