The motor is a premium-efficiency motor IE4. It meets the latest energy requirements from 2015 what will be required in the industry. The engine is fully developed and manufactured in Germany. The flow is adjustable by speed (800-2550 rpm). For controlling a display on the pump is built, where the power, speed and hours are shown.

The main advantage of permanent magnet motors compared to a frequency controlled a-synchronous motors, the remarkably high efficiency at low rpm. However, even in the higher rpm range, they are significantly more economical.

The FlowFriends hydraulics is specially designed for high flow at low pressure. Its optimal application is between 0 and 5 meters head:

More pressure available then a propeller pump, which in some pressure piping is unsuitable.
Much more pressure than comparable pumps with maximum m3. Almost all pumps available with larger capacities (watts), have more than 10 meters head. This is very much at the expense of the available flow (number m3). This pressure is a good pond completely unnecessary.

The hydraulics of the FlowFriend is fully of cast stainless steel 316. Robust, smooth and a perfect shape for minimal internal losses.

The FlowFriend has 3 "(90mm) inlet and outlet. The allowable size of particles is less than 15 mm.

Flowfriend Junior

The FlowFriend range has now been further extended with the FlowFriend Junior. The Junior has much in common with the current FlowFriend models, but it also has a number of significant differences.

• 0-10V/0-20mA/4-24mA external control
• adjustable 2-40 m3/hour/20-370 Watt/500-3000 rpm
• without fan - extremely quiet
• IE6: latest generation permanent magnet motor (EC/BLDC)
• 5.5-metre pump head

The most important difference in the construction of the pump is that the motor and the control electronics are separated from each other. The motor complies with IP class 67 because the pump does not need a cooling fan. The electronics can be assembled in an easily accessible place and can be controlled remotely in a number of ways. The control cabinet, pump and cable are fully EMC-shielded.

The extremely efficient design of the pump has been retained. This means that hydraulic, motor and control electronics losses are all minimised.
The maximum efficiency of the hydraulics at full load is above 85%, that of the motor above 94% and for the control above 98%. The motor suffices with regard to the most recent, not yet officially released IE6 standard for energy efficiency.

The hydraulics in the Junior are, just like in the other FlowFriend pumps, made of 316 stainless steel and of the mixed-flow type. This means a pump head of up to 5.5 metres and a flow adjustable to 40 m3/h so the pump has a large area of application for efficient use. The pump is fully adjustable (500-3000 rpm) using an external control system.

The control electronics
The FlowFriend is supplied with short-circuit resistant control electronics and has as standard:

• keypad
• short-circuit resistance
• internal EMC filter
• Modbus RTU
• CANopen
• analogue inputs (0-10V/0-20mA/4-20mA)
• digital inputs
• IP66

The power consumption can also be read off with this control unit. The Junior can be remotely controlled using the many analogue and digital inputs.

The FlowFriend is far ahead in terms of pumping water energy-efficiently. The FlowFriend already today meets the highest MEI category of over 0.7. The MEI - Minimum Efficiency Index - category is related to the efficiency of the motor, as well as the pump’s hydraulics and a directive was developed in 2012 to mandate the energy efficiency of water pumps.
To underline this extraordinary accomplishment: the EU has mandated a minimum MEI of 0.4 as compulsory effective July 2014.

The motor speed (600-2,550 rpm) can be adjusted as standard with every type of FlowFriend. The pump includes a display for this purpose that also shows power consumption and hours of operation. Every FlowFriend can also be controlled externally via an optional 0-10V port. The major benefit of permanent magnet motors compared to frequency controlled asynchronous motors is the remarkably high effuciency at low rpm. However, even at higher rpm, these pumps are significantly more efficient.
